Hand painted by Ryhia AKA NARDURNA šŸ‘©šŸ½ā€šŸŽØ

Ā

This piece is the sister artwork to 'The Dry'. The two go hand in hand; we can not have one without the other.

Across 2022 and 2023, I painted the biggest artworks I've ever done. This one and its partner took me around 9-10 months to finish, adding small details every few weeks between my usual work. Normally, I don't paint like this. I usually finish a piece in just a few days, working on it nonstop. But these two pieces are different. They needed more of my time and attention because of the intricate details. They are some of my most important work, they take me back home to Country as a kid. I LOVE these pieces!

The Story

Itā€™s coming into the wet season at home, its called the build-up. I hope we get a good lot of water to wash away the dust, fill the waterholes, rivers and creeks, Country needs to have its fill of freshwater. We go fishing to catch barra in the McArthur River and make sure we have a good supply of food, when the rain comes, Borroloola and all the surrounding stations get cut off. We all make sure everyone in the community has food and fresh water. When the rain comes it floods and the crocodiles move, they sometimes go into freshwater rivers and creeks, there isnt a lot of swimming going on, but one day mum, dad and one of my grannies took us for a drive to a place where the water was running over the road; it was car tire deep there was fish trying to swim against the current and little crabs which I thought was weird cause we were a long way from the ocean. We went swimming here, we were safe.

Materials

My prints are giclĆ©e fine art grade printed on either textured cotton ragĀ (paper) or poly-cotton canvas, only the best HDX archival inks are used,Ā guaranteed to last over 100 years.

CottonĀ rag prints have a 35mm white border on each face, the size listed is the overall dimension including the border.

CanvasĀ prints are stretched ready to hang, this means the canvas is stretched over an internal stretching frame with a wire fitted to the back so you can remove it from the box and hang it on your wall.

External decorative framesĀ can be added to either cotton rag or canvas prints.

MapsĀ are printed on poster paper perfect for framing yourself or laminating.

Dimensions & Framing info (if applicable)

Custom made frames are made from sustainably sourcedĀ FSC certifiedĀ Tasman oak or painted pine sourced from Malaysia or Indonesia. Each frame is handĀ made specifically for each piece.

Cotton Rag PaperĀ prints receive an acrylic "Art Glass" a beautiful anti-reflective glazing that provides 70% UV filtering and eliminates almost all reflections, we use this as it is shatter-proof and lightweight, so it is fantastic for shipping and also installing into areas where safety is paramount.

Paper prints are wrapped in a shadow box frame adding around 30mm to each face.

CanvasĀ prints are sold stretched and ready to hang, if you choose framing you will receive a floating frame which adds around 15mm to each face.

For more information on frames visit the Left Bank Art GroupĀ framing page.
